Solano leaves Larissa to return home with Universitario

By: Peter Katsiris | January 7th, 2009

Nolberto Solano has left Larissa as reports from last week indicated, but the Peruvian has not joined Argentina’s Velez Sarsfield as reports suggested. Instead, Solano has returned home to join Universitario de Deportes.

After what was a somewhat underachieving half a season with Larissa, Solano’s stay in Greece’s northern city of Larissa was not as successful as the ‘Vyssini’ expected.

While Solano was highly regarded for his skillful attributes and sharp playmaking abilities, he never managed to transfer his attributes to the Super League, which had previously won him praises during his stay in the English Premier League with the likes of Aston Villa, West Ham, and Newcastle.

A solitary goal, which he registered against league leaders Olympiacos, is all Solano has to show for his time with Larissa.
