Larissa makes Ilic its first January acquisition
By: Peter Katsiris | January 13th, 2009
AE Larissa announced its first signing of the winter transfer period today, as Sasa Ilic was announced as the newest member of the ‘Vyssini’ after arriving in Greece on Monday. The Serbian made the move from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg to Thessaly, but while the move is official details of the agreement have not been made public.
Mostly known for his days with Turkish outfit Galatasaray, the Alkazar side will be hoping Ilic can reproduce his brilliance from Istanbul while playing with Larissa. Still active with the Serbian National Team, Ilic is also a regular in Serbia’s midfield and will bring plenty of depth to Larissa’s middle line.

Ilic is not a regular in Serbian squad, he did not play competitive match for Serbia for a long time, and he was not even in 20 players called up from new Serbian coach, Antic. But, Ilic is excellent player, although light-weighted, he is excellent dribbler and has great creativity and will certainly be excellent addition for Greek league. He was great in Partizan, and had one great season with Galatasaray.

Ilic was a great player for Galatasaray, especially considering that we paid very little for him at the time. He has a good eye for that beautiful pass, and is a model professional. Overall, I think Larissa will be very pleased with their new signing. All the best Sasa.
