Filomeno, Cardozo return as Asteras looks to pick up the pieces

By: Peter Katsiris | January 13th, 2009

Asteras Tripolis has not been able to find its groove which rocketed them to the top regions of the table last year. Now plummeting to the basement of the Super League table, a 2-1 loss to Larissa last weekend was just another nail in the slowly closing coffin.

The Peloponnesian club will be hoping for a boost this Saturday against Thrasyvoulos as South American duo, Horacio Cardozo and Lucio Filomeno return to action after serving time on the sidelines due to suspension.

Fabeta cut loose
While problems have been abundant for Asteras this year, the Acadian club isn’t afraid to scrap its side to the bare minimum in an attempt to salvage the season. Previously releasing Jorginho, Roudolphe Douala, and allowing Martin Kamburov to return to Bulgaria with Lokomotiv Sofia.

They added to the list this week as Portuguese forward Fabeta was released by Asteras, before signing on at Rio Ave FC.
