Asteras drops Doula and Kamburov
By: Peter Katsiris | January 7th, 2009
Asteras Tripolis took a proactive stance to commence the winter transfer window, and after picking up Efstathios Rokas last week they continued their wheeling and dealing by dropping Roudolphe Doula and Martin Kamburov on Monday.
The pair never managed to make the most of their chances, and after Asteras released manager Carlos Carvalhal in favour of Nikos Kostenoglou, it was just a matter of time for the duo.
Zairi attracts Olympiacos interest
While Asteras has taken care of business to reinforce its push to remain in the Super League, one of their own could be headed to a league rival. Jaouad Zairi, who has caught the eye of league leaders Olympiacos, could be headed to the nation’s capital as plenty of speculation in the Greek press has linked the Moroccan with the Greek Champions.
Mendrinos move for Asteras?
On the import front, there have been rumors that Olympiacos’ Kostas Mendrinos could be headed to Tripolis this transfer period. While the Greek’s time with Olympiacos has been limited to few appearances as a substitute, it is very unclear if the 23-year-old is ready to leave the Giorgos Karaiskakis Stadium.
