Lienen set for Panionios departure
By: Peter Katsiris | November 11th, 2008
It seems Asteras Tripolis isn’t the only side needy of a change. In what is truly a bizarre twist, Panionios announced today that Ewald Lienen will be leaving his post as manager. News sources in Greece are labelling the case as a departure by mutual consent, but plenty is unclear at this hour.
Panionios currently sits in eleventh place in the Super League; a position not desired by the ‘Kyanerythri’. After a slow start, it seemed Panionios was revived by the debuts of Alvaro Recoba and Fabian Estoyanoff; however, recent results – all be it in tough matches – has seen Panionios come up short. After two consecutive losses, one would say it was ideal to let Lienen go; but the German has been very consistent during his time as Panionios boss.
